Conquering Antarctica with Matthieu Tordeur
Conquering Antarctica with Mathieu Tordeur. In November, the young adventurer Matthieu Tordeur will attempt the expedition of a lifetime, crossing the Antarctic in total autonomy over nearly 1,150km. An exceptional fight which will last nearly 50 days in temperatures of up to -70 degrees. An adventure during which Matthieu Tordeur will wear a foolproof watch: the CONCORDIA.
We therefore designed and developed the CONCORDIA to meet the extraordinary specifications of this expedition. Non-magnetic (soft iron internal casing), waterproof to a depth of 300 meters, it is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, down to –70°.
10% of the kickstarter campaign will be donated to Matthieu Tordeur to finance his expedition.

1. ABOUT CONCORDIA
Why CONCORDIA? Concordia means “Harmony” in Latin and it is also the name of a research station based in Antarctica, one of three stations inside the Antarctic continent to operate all year round!
The collection is available in an automatic version measuring 40mm in diameter with a rotating bezel and a more accessible quartz version measuring 38mm in diameter. These two versions are available in several colors. All watches will be numbered.
AUTOMATIC CONCORDIA
The Concordia Automatic is the one that will be worn by the adventurer during his expedition. The oils of the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement have been changed so that they do not freeze when the temperature reaches -70°. A watch with a quartz movement would discharge too quickly with such extreme temperatures. With its rotating bezel and very readable hour indicators, it has a sporty and stylish look.
- Case: Diameter 40 mm, in polished and brushed steel. Special internal non-magnetic device in soft iron.
- Bezel: Rotating brushed steel with reference points for intermediate indications
- Back: Screwed in steel, with the logo of the “Objectif Pôle Sud” expedition
- Movement: Swiss self-winding mechanical, caliber ETA 2824-2. Battery life of 40 hours.
- Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, date.
- Dial: Black, blue and steel with luminescent indexes.
- Glass: Sapphire, anti-reflective
- Water resistance: 300 meters.
- 2 year international warranty
The ETA movement has since been changed to a French-Swiss movement SOPRORD P024.
CONCORDIA QUARTZ
The Concordia Quartz is a more accessible version with a smaller diameter than its big sister. Waterproof, reliable, sporty, elegant and discreet, it has all the technical characteristics of the “toolwatch” which will allow you to do sports and diving without worries.
- Case: Diameter 38 mm, in polished and brushed steel. Special internal non-magnetic device in soft iron.
- Back: Screwed in steel, with the logo of the “Objectif Pôle Sud” expedition

A world record
Next November, Matthieu will fly to Antarctica, this land described as the most hostile in the world. Matthieu Tordeur will undertake this expedition by attempting to become the first Frenchman and the youngest explorer in history to ski from the coast of the Antarctic continent (Hercules Inlet) to the South Pole over 1150 km alone, without assistance and in total autonomy .
The land of extremes
Called the “land of extremes”, Antarctica is described as the most hostile continent on the planet. Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest and highest average altitude continent on the planet. The lowest temperature recorded on the white continent reached -89°C and winds can blow up to 300 km/h.
3. About Matthew
Through a series of expeditions on 5 continents, Matthieu Tordeur has climbed, swam, rolled, sailed and traveled over nearly 100,000 km. Never traveling without his camera, he documents his adventures through books, magazines, documentaries and photographs.
Matthieu Tordeur is today the youngest member of the prestigious Society of French Explorers (SEF). Like Nicolas Hulot, Sylvain Tesson and Thomas Pesquet, the members of the SEF dedicate their lives to exploration, discovery in all its forms and the transmission of knowledge.
Many media are already talking about this exceptional adventure:
CONCORDIA according to Matthew
“The watch has always been the essential accessory for all explorers. This is even more valid in Antarctica where it will be daylight 24 hours a day and the watch will be my only time marker in this icy desert. Mechanical watches are also much more reliable in the cold than electronic equipment, which no longer works at very low temperatures.”
