Diving watch vs. field watch: what are the differences?

In the world of watchmaking, some watches are designed to withstand the elements. Diving watches, field watches: both designed for performance, yet they serve very different purposes.
At Charlie Paris, this duality comes to life through two emblematic collections: the Concordia, designed for the depths, and the GR, designed for the great outdoors.

But then, what really distinguishes a diving watch from a field watch? Diving or hiking, in two complementary worlds.

A question of environment

The diving watch, as its name suggests, is designed to accompany underwater explorers. It must, above all, meet the requirements of high water resistance, optimal underwater readability, and pressure resistance.
Conversely, the field watch, also called "field watch", originated from the needs of soldiers and hikers: a reliable, discreet, lightweight watch, with a quick reading of the time in all circumstances.

At Charlie Paris, we strive to create watches that can accompany every adventure, whatever its nature. Whether diving into the deep sea or exploring rugged trails, our collections are designed to combine technical performance, durability, and understated elegance.

The Concordia: robustness and water resistance up to 300 meters

The Concordia collection is the epitome of the modern diver's watch. With a water resistance of up to 300 meters, it withstands the most extreme conditions. It features an ultra-resistant sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown for enhanced water protection, and a dial perfectly designed for flawless underwater readability. Available in several versions, the Concordia is available in quartz, automatic, and automatic GMT for adventurous travelers.

The GR: designed for the great outdoors

Opposite the abyss, the GR collection was designed as a reliable and durable field watch. Inspired by historic field watches, it offers clear timekeeping, even in the most demanding environments.

The GR is available in two complementary versions:

  • A 24-hour version, with an unusual but intuitive display, designed to keep you on track at a glance.
  • A mecaquartz version, combining battery operation for the main display and a mechanically operated chronograph, for precision and a more watchmaking feel.

With its sapphire crystal, sandblasted case, and compact design, the GR is the ultimate tool watch: simple, robust, and efficient.

Two tool watches, two personalities

Although the Concordia and the GR were born for different terrains, they share the same philosophy: that of elegant utility, dear to Charlie Paris.
Every detail is designed to serve a function, without ever compromising on aesthetics. One loves the call of the open sea, the other prefers forgotten trails, but both tell a story of precision, robustness, and freedom.

So, are you more land or deep blue?

It all depends on your area of exploration.
If you're looking for a technical watch with a bold look, the Concordia will meet your expectations, both on land and underwater.
If you prefer a simple, lightweight and functional watch, the GR is made to accompany you, from Parisian asphalt to steep paths.
