Conceived by Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost and Dominique Perrault, the Temps Miroir watch stands apart from a vain precision rendered obsolete by the widespread use of smartphones: the watch reconnects with the spirit of jewelry, while simultaneously conveying a reflection on time as a universal, sensory space. Perfectly reflective, the watch reflects back to the wearer and those around them, the image of their personal use of time reflecting both the passage of time and the weather.
“Our interpretation of the dial and hands of the Temps Miroir watch reconnects with the desirable use of this object, namely as a piece of jewelry. Following this logic, the creation was achieved by removing rather than adding elements, an approach based on subtraction: the dial no longer displays patterns but becomes a mirror, a complete mirror because the hands themselves are mirrored. Thus, the hands disappear, and only their shadows in the mirror allow them to be discerned. When they align with the meridian axis marked by the fold, the mirror becomes perfect.
