Analog watch: Definition and origins

In the world of watchmaking, the time can be displayed in different ways, and the analog time display is the most commonly used. A watch is considered "analog" in horology when it indicates the time using the movement of hands on a dial. The dial is usually adorned with numerals and indices, allowing the user to read the time on his watch easily.

Etymological origin of the word Analogique:

Analogy comes from Greek analogia which means that something is proportional or similar to another, although these two things are distinct. Thus, analogy is a thought process through which we relate two things or two objects of different natures. In the case of an analog watch, we are indeed associating two elements of a different nature. The tips of the hands are associated with the number or index that the hands point to. A direction is associated with a number or index, which is why we speak of an analog watch. Analog watches have existed throughout history and are still the most widespread watches on the market today.

All our Charlie Paris watches are analog watches because we appreciate the elegance of hands on a dial. We offer watches analog for men And of the analog watches for women since 2014 entirely designed and assembled in France in our Parisian workshop.
