How to change the glass on your watch ?

Watches are objects Watches are delicate, and it's not uncommon to accidentally break the glass. Don't worry, replacing a watch glass is a very common repair. In this article, we'll guide you on how to react if this ever happens to you.

  • We do not recommend We advise against changing your watch crystal yourself, as this process requires specialized tools and expertise. Attempting to replace the crystal yourself could cause further damage and void the warranty if your watch is less than two years old. Therefore, we recommend taking your watch crystal to a local watchmaker. They will also check that the impact hasn't damaged other parts of the watch, such as the movement or the dial.
  • If you own a Charlie watch, our repair workshop will be happy to replace the crystal. You can send it to us by mail (see the procedure). ici), or drop it off directly at one of our two shops, at 53 rue Saint André des Arts in Paris or 17 Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie. Sapphire crystal is generally priced at an average of 60€ Depending on the model, our workshop will provide an estimate, but a more precise quote will be sent to you if your watch has other damage. When you drop off your watch for repair, please allow two to three weeks.

Sapphire crystal, so you don't have to change the glass on your watch

Sapphire crystal is a high-end glass, far more resistant than standard mineral glass. It is virtually unbreakable and scratch-resistant. Sapphire crystal is made from aluminum oxide crystallized at 2050°C and possesses the same chemical properties as natural sapphire. Thanks to this, sapphire crystal is extremely durable; it is the second hardest material after diamond (for example, it is seven times harder than hardened steel). Therefore, sapphire crystal is very difficult to break or scratch.

At Charlie Paris, almost all of our models now feature sapphire crystal. Discover our different collections. diving watch, automatic watch for women, men's watch.
