When our watches meet musical legend | Studio Ferber

When Watchmaking Meets Musical Legend

Behind a discreet facade in Paris's 20th arrondissement lies a place where time isn't measured, it's shaped. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the INITIAL collection , we chose to set up shop in the legendary Studio Ferber.

Ferber: A monument of French culture

Entering Ferber is like stepping into music history. Founded in 1973 by René Ameline , this studio has become a sanctuary for some of the greatest artists. It's here that Gainsbourg's wisps of smoke met the genius of Bashung, the madness of Higelin, and more recently, the demanding electronic sound of Daft Punk and the poetry of Jean-Louis Aubert.

The aesthetics of the space are an immediate source of inspiration. Between the vintage woodwork that warms the acoustics, the massive analog consoles with their myriad faders, and the subdued lighting, the studio offers a unique visual texture. For us, this setting echoes the exacting standards of a watchmaking workshop: every button, every potentiometer, and every microphone has its place, just like every component of our movements.

Rhythm and precision

In a studio like Ferber, every second counts and every vibration must be perfect. It is this same quest for precision that drives us at Charlie Paris when designing our models .

There is a poetic connection between analog sound and mechanical movement. Just like a vinyl record or a magnetic tape, an automatic watch possesses a "soul" and warmth that digital technology can never replace.

During this photoshoot, the contrast was striking: the polished and brushed steel of the cases in our Initial Skeleton collection met the warm wood of Steinway pianos and the metal of vintage microphones. The watch doesn't just measure time, it sets the tempo.

"Quiet Beat": Behind the scenes of the photoshoot

For this campaign, the studio atmosphere was ideal. Far from the hustle and bustle, Ferber's booths offer a rare calm, where every detail is perceived. A unique atmosphere pervades the space, marked by the scent of wooden instruments and the leather of old armchairs.

It was in this context that Bertrand James, professional drummer and friend of the company, brought our INITIAL Skeleton model to life. In music, as in watchmaking, everything is a matter of rhythm and repetition. The watch's exposed mechanism perfectly matched Bertrand's movements behind his drum kit: a steady, visual, and vibrant beat.

The studio's subdued lighting highlighted the details of our dials and the finishes of our cases, capturing the essence of a moment where time is not measured, but composed.

Time cannot be measured, it is felt

Mastering time isn't about controlling it, it's about listening to it. With this immersion at Studio Ferber, we invite you to find your own rhythm for this year. Whether you want to slow down or speed up, the INITIAL collection accompanies you on every beat.
